Farewell to Dale

Around the turns and throught the grass.
Here comes Earnhardt and he's coming fast.
It's the final lap of the Great American Race,
His friend Mikey is leading and his son's in second place.

There's a pack of cars behind him, and they know who to beat,
So Dale widened his Chevy, too at least 40 feet.
They bob and they weave, try all that can be done,
'Cause if they pass the Intimidator, the race could be won.

But as it turned out, it was not meant to be,
Dale held them all off, deep into turn 3.
And as they came for the checkered, Dale knew he'd done his part
For in victory lane he could see, either a Waltrip or Earnhardt.

But what was to follow, just doesn't seem fair,
For the last turn at Daytona, would be his last breath of air.
We've mourned and we've cried, down to our very last tear,
But we go onto another race, as he would, if he were here.

So Farewell to Dale, may your family be blessed,
You will be remembered forever, as truly the best.

God bless the Earnhardts and the entire racing community.
Today and always.
